Global Handwashing day is celebrated every year on October 15th to create an awareness and understanding of the benefits of handwashing with soap. This year, the theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food – including food hygiene and nutrition. It is a fact that most of the people find it unimportant to wash their hands properly and are unaware of its after effects. Hand washing is one of the most important and effective steps in keeping the food safe, preventing diseases and helping children grow strong. So, the theme with the tagline ‘Clean hands – a recipe for health, reminds us to make handwashing a part of every meal.’
Handwashing is one of the best precautions you can take to help prevent the spread of infection and illness, mainly resulting from consumption of contaminated food or water. This Global Handwashing Day, try to make a difference by encouraging and promoting effective handwashing in your community. Stay clean, stay safe.
