As part of an indefinite strike against the non-implementation of the amended Dynamic Assured Career Progression(DACP) scheme, the government doctors in Uttarkhand restrained from working for two hours on Monday.

The proposed amendment has it that increased salaries which usually come with promotions can also be enjoyed by those who joined the services before January 2015. The DACP scheme was implemented in the very same month. At the time of implementing the scheme, the doctors who joined the health department before January 2015 were not assured of a rise in the grade pay.

It was only on June 4, 2015 that the health minister gave doctors the assurance that an amended order favoring them will be released by the state. The promise notwithstanding, nothing was done to make it a reality- a turn of events that prompted the doctors to announce the indefinite strike, calling for evasion of work for two hours every day.
