Mumbai’s Sion Hospital and three doctors associated with it were asked to pay a compensation worth around Rs.7 lakhs by the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.

The case in question goes back to 2000, when a patient alleged that during a bypass surgery an electrical equipment meant to maintain body temperature produced excess heat which gave her burns.

Even though the concerned doctors informed the court that they couldn’t be held responsible for faulty machinery or defective instrument which is provided by the hospital, the court refuted their argument.
